Fiercely Fiona

March 16:

Finals are over with, spring break is upon me, life is good! Just a reminder, once I hit 50 followers I will get my giveaway going :D

This manicure is from a few weeks ago. I wore it to a German club outing and it was fun and quite an odd color. I am, of course, speaking of OPI's "Fiercely Fiona." FF is a dirty yellow...greeny-yellow creme. It is kind of hard to describe but it was definitely fun to wear!

This was three coats and for a 'yellow' it had good coverage. The whole Shrek collection was amazing in my opinion. Each color was so bright and cheery, it is my pick me up collection (when holos or neons won't do).

I have just finished reading "Jane Eyre" and tomorrow will be a day filled with the BBC version of "Jane Eyre" and manicures with a great friend of mine. Even though I would love to do St. Patrick's day nails, I am craving pastels.

Until next time,
Happy painting!

Giveaway Preview!!!

March 14:

This is my 50th post yay!

To distract myself in between finals I went shopping for the upcoming 50 Followers Giveaway I'll be giving when I hit 50 followers.

Originally I was going to pick up a few larger sinful color but I found a mini set that was so cute so I got that instead. It has five colors: red; orange; yellow; green; purple. I am not sure of the names, there are none on the packaging but there may be some on the bottom side. On the left is one of my favorite glitters Wet'n Wild's "Kaleidoscope." I am sure this glitter would be great for frankening. The other glitter is Sinful Color's "Nail Junkie" because I am a self professed nail junkie!

More details to come soon!

Happy painting!

Mardi Gras Manicure

March 6:

Mardi Gras is this Tuesday so I decided to get festive with a themed manicure. I don't really do much to celebrate Mardi Gras, though I might hunker down with some cajun food and "The Princess and the Frog", but I love the colors and the celebration itself.

For this manicure I used:

Pinkie: Zoya "Yasmeen"
Ring: OPI "Sparkle-icious"
Middle: Sinful Colors "This Is It"
Pointer: Zoya "Veruschuka"
Thumb: OPI "Sparkle-icious"

"Sparkle-icious" is from the Burlesque collection and looks like Mardi Gras in a bottle! I was saving it for this manicure in particular. In fact, I have never used any of these polishes before today so this was a fun way for me to knock out a few untried polishes. The only thing about doing a Mardi Gras manicure two days before Mardi Gras is the glitter polish may chip like crazy. To combat that I am taking "Sparkle-icious" with me to school to patch up any chips that may occur. Other than that I am loving this manicure!

With a winter that seems so long, a fun, sparkly, colorful manicure makes me feel more inspired! And I just picked up four Tronica polishes so perhaps I shall have some holo fun!

Until next time,
Happy painting!

A Rose for a Tudor

February 10:

Since my senior year of high school I have been obsessed with the Tudors. AP European History is to blame. First it started with Elizabeth I after we watched "Elizabeth: The Virgin Queen". Then it moved on to Henry VIII and his six wives. In honor of my favorite royal house I decided to do Tudor Rose nails. The colors of the Tudor house are green and white and the rose is red and white. I had an idea for a manicure like this for a long time but only put it together yesterday. This is also in anticipation for my Rescue Beauty Lounge "Catherine" manicure!

Just a warning, this a pic heavy from here on out. I am so in love with this manicure!

On my pinky and middle fingers and my thumbs I have three coats of Nina Pro "Salsa". I have never used this brand before and I definitely approve. This color was the perfect "Tudor" green. I also used this for the leaves for the flowers.

On my ring and pointer fingers I have three coats of Sally Hansen "White On". For the first time this polish actually behaved.

To paint the flower I used OPI's "20 Candles on My Cake" and a dotting tool (I can't live without this!). Then I drew a little dot in the center of the rose with Sinful Colors "This Is It" (I'm not entirely sure that is the correct name). And of course added the leaves with Nina Pro "Salsa".
This totally feeds my Tudor addiction. Now I think I shall lug out one of my giant Tudor biographies and hunker down later today. Anyone ever choose a favorite Henry VIII wife? Mine was always Anne but then I feel bad because I like Catherine too...and Anne of Cleaves...and Catherine Parr...
Until next time,
Happy painting!

Here come the Hawks...

November 16:

So let's just say that I enjoy hockey quite a bit. In reality I am obsessed with it! My favorite team has been the Chicago Blackhawks since my friend invited me to a game for her birthday. It was exciting to watch the players in the Olympics but more importantly watch them win Lord Stanley's cup!

The Blackhawks are actually what got me into my nail polish obsession because I started painting my nails with their colors to support the team.

This manicure I did on Sunday after having my previous manicure on for only 12 hours or so
because the Blackhawks were on a losing-streak. I figured to try and change their luck I'd paint my nails. It worked! They won, in over time, with a goal from Stalberg!

Here is how I painted my nails. The two jersey's are Jack Skille #20 and Viktor Stalberg #25, both of whom scored this weekend! Lets go Hawks!

To paint the feathers:

Pinky: 1 coat NYC Tangerine Creme 1 Coat Sinful Colors Cloud Nine for the base. NYC French White Tip for the lines.

Ring: 3 coats Sinful Colors Lets Meet for the base. OPI Yoga-ta Get This Blue for the lines.

Middle: 3 coats Sinful Colors San Francisco for the base. Sinful Colors Lets Meet for the line.

Pointer: 2 coats NYC Madison Ave. (notice that I chose a red that is called Madison Ave. since the Blackhawks play at the UC on Madison Ave!) for the base. NYC French White Tip for the lines.

Jerseys:

2 coats of OPI The Thrill of Brazil for the base. 2 coats NYC French White Tip for the white. 1 coat Wet and Wild Black Creme for the lines. NYC French White Tip for the number.

Viktor Stalberg on my right hand. (1 goal against Anaheim Ducks)

Jack Skille on my left hand. (2 goals against Nashville Predators)

And the players themselves:

Jack Skille:

I have so much pride in my team, lets hope they do great on their road trip!

Until next time,
Happy Painting!
