Need a highlighter?

April 18:

Well I've got some on my nails. Not really but China Glaze's "Celtic Sun" comes pretty close to actual highlighter fluid.

This manicure it two coats of OPI's "Alpine Snow" and four coats of CS. Yes, four coats on top of two coats of white. On its own, CS dries very fast, but AS was not dry enough so I ended up with a ton of bubbles in this manicure. I am not sure which I hate more, bubbles or fuzzies in my manicure.

I don't even want to think about how many coats of CS I would have needed without AS underneath because the formula looks like highlighter fluid and clear polish. In the end it is worth it and this color is not as horrific or blinding as I thought it would be. Simply a wonderful neon. What's your favorite neon?

I've got some exciting news, but I'll leave that for later.

Until next time,
Happy painting!

  1. Wow, that's really in your face yellow! So scary that I like it! Makes me think of the sun :)

  2. I've got Oryl's Cabana Boy on now and I love it! It's only slightly more purple than my pink highlighter and just as bright.

  3. I bought Sun Worshiper yesterday, the orange one from Poolside, and I put it on over 2 coats of white and oh my god I was blinded.
And I hated it! A lot! It made my skin look gray and unhealthy!
I wanted to like it but I couldn't.

That's really really bright. It's like burning my eyes through the computer screen, but I like it.

  5. @Sylvia: it is even brighter in person (kind of scared my camera too haha). Definitely a sunny color, and surprisingly wearable for a highlighter neon! Try it if you have not :)

@enchantedgemini: I have not tried that one but I'll have to look for it! Highlighter pinks are so much fun! My favorites are China Glaze's "Shocking Pink" and "Pink Voltage"

@rebecca: It is definitely a blinding color. The same thing happened to me but my skin looked grey/blue...it was very odd. I'll put a picture up soon. Maybe it will look better in a neon rainbow manicure (might try this actually) or with some nail art on it. I am determined to make it work haha

@ChaosButterly: I have a thing for eye searing neons...I think it is the extended winter weather :) It is even brighter in person, so much fun! I like too in all its eye burning glory, try it out if you haven't!

  7. @Jazzy E: Thanks! I totally agree :D Bright neons are one of my favorite types of polish finishes.

@Emily: It is even more bright in person believe it or not ;) Me either, but I bought it on a whim and found out it is wearable and fun! Thanks!
